AIDA joins the Nub Sessions

For those of you unfamiliar with the name, The Nub Sessions is a brand new online music show broadcast weekly on YouTube from Airfield Recording Studios in Cornwall, owned by top guitarist Jo Partridge. The sessions are produced and transmitted by Cornish Audio Visual Specialists Nub Sound, supported throughout by Sennheiser, and responsible for the extraordinary sound and picture quality of the transmissions. With additional support from European Culture support for Cornwall, the sessions feature live performances by original cornish artists as well as news and interviews from the contemporary music world.

Adding to the crop of outstanding cameras used by Nub for the sessions, are two new AIDA HD- NDI-200 cameras using 15-50mm lenses which were supplied by Newbury based Cache Media Ltd. Josh Small, Nub’s systems specialist, discovered the new cameras through reading various positive comments on the internet and, having dealt with Cache Media before, he contacted MD Stuart Cameron to arrange delivery.

Josh explained: “Software, computers and networks are changing the way video is produced, making Network Device Interface the most widely adopted and used IP standard in the world. For the show, all the cameras and audio feeds are mixed via NDI to Netgear switchers. Everything is networked, meaning we use no analogue feeds at all. It’s tough, but it’s rugged and reliable. The AIDA cameras are already NDI enabled and fitted into our system seamlessly. They are being used in fairly low light environs but the quality is great and less grainy than we expected given the lighting. They also use Fujinon lenses which I am a big fan of.”

Josh continued: “The Nub Sessions really came about thanks to the Covid lockdown. Jo Partridge had long nursed a desire to expand the activities at Airfield Studios and the downtime caused by the pandemic gave us the chance to put the sessions together with Tam Johnstone, who presents the programme, and to organise the technical set up required.”

Cache Media’s Stuart Cameron added: “The Aida HD-NDI- 200 cameras come equipped with a CS lens mount which gives the option for us to supply a multitude of Varifocal lenses such as the Fujinon 15-50mm lens supplied to Nub Sound. As far as we know, the Aida is one of the world’s first POV cameras with IP/NDI for direct streaming. We carry the cameras in stock and rushed them to Cornwall; just in time for the second episode of the Nub Sessions. We are delighted that, with the expertise of Nub Sound, they have been so successful for them”

Key features of the Aida HD-NDI-200 camera are; it contains a Sony CMOS ISP (1/2.8” progressive CMOS sensor) providing up to 1920×1080 full HD resolution and full HD video over HDMI, RTSP, and RTMP for direct streaming and preview to the likes of Facebook and Youtube.

It also utilises the newest NDI®|HX2 for the lowest latency, quality and compression video over a single network.

Along with Autodiscover enabled for fast installation over any network, fully adjustable camera settings and functional tally light for program, preview, and standby modes for NDI transmission, it boasts a host of other features, currently making the Aida HD-NDI-200 a leader in its field.
